Your loft is one of the largest unused spaces in your home. Professional loft boarding gives you safe, accessible storage space without compressing the insulation beneath. Done correctly, you gain valuable storage while keeping your home energy efficient.
We use raised loft boarding legs that sit above your insulation, creating a solid floor without squashing the material below. Every installation includes proper access via a new or upgraded loft hatch and loft ladder where needed.
Everything you need to make the most of your loft space, installed properly.
Boarding installed on raised legs above your insulation. Maintains the full depth of insulation for thermal performance while providing a solid, safe floor.
Top-up or replacement loft insulation to meet current building regulations. We ensure your loft is properly insulated before boarding over the top.
New insulated, draught-proof loft hatches to replace old, draughty openings. Properly sealed to prevent heat loss and improve access.
Folding and sliding loft ladders for safe, easy access. Properly fitted and secured for daily use. Various styles to suit your ceiling height.
Purpose-built storage areas in your loft space. We board the areas you need and leave space around water tanks, cables and ventilation.
LED loft lighting for visibility and safety. We can arrange qualified electricians to install lighting as part of your loft boarding project.
Most lofts can be boarded, but there are a few things to check first:

Not if it is done correctly. We use raised loft boarding legs that create a gap between the boarding and the insulation, so the insulation retains its full depth and thermal performance. Compressing insulation by laying boards directly on joists significantly reduces its effectiveness.
The cost depends on the area to be boarded, the current state of the loft, and whether additional insulation, a new hatch or a loft ladder is needed. We provide free loft assessments and detailed written quotations so you know exactly what to budget.
A typical loft boarding installation takes one to two days depending on the size of the area being boarded and any additional work such as insulation top-up, hatch upgrades or ladder installation. We always provide a clear schedule before starting.
Standard loft boarding for storage purposes does not usually require building regulations approval. However, if you are converting the loft into a habitable room, that is a different matter entirely and will require building control involvement. We only provide loft boarding for storage, not loft conversions.
Yes, in most cases. We install the boarding above the existing insulation using raised legs. If the existing insulation is very old, damaged or insufficient, we can remove it and install new insulation before boarding. We will assess the condition of your existing insulation during our free survey.
A properly boarded loft using standard joists and raised legs is suitable for general household storage such as boxes, suitcases, seasonal items and decorations. It is not designed for extremely heavy items such as large pieces of furniture or commercial stock. We will advise on the weight capacity during our assessment.
